Operation Santa Claus title sponsors UBS are again coming to the aid of the needy of Hong Kong with a series of fund-raising initiatives at the Open for Operation Santa Claus. A gala party on Tuesday night raised HK$75,000 thanks to a lucky draw, a 'nearest the pin' competition in a simulator and a 'guess the golfer' game hosted by Nick Faldo and Charlie Wi.

A straight drive competition during Wednesday?s pro-am raised another HK$1,280, while members of the media chipped in HK$1,160 at a race night at Sha Tin on Wednesday.

UBS are also donating HK$100 for every birdie and US$500 for every eagle over the first three days, and doubling it for the final round on Sunday. Yesterday there were 496 birdies and seven eagles, boosting the coffers by HK$53,100.

Members of the public can also give generously to OSC by guessing the number of birdies over the four days. It costs HK$20 to enter and the prize is a framed pin flag signed by all the star players at the Open.
