Jewish Film Festival takes a look at the brave deeds of war victims
This year's Hong Kong Jewish Film Festival, which runs until November 25, features films from around the world. Howard Elias, the festival director, recommends the following titles for young movie buffs.
Anne Frank Remembered
(UK/US/Netherlands, 1995)
Anne Frank's The Diary of a Young Girl, which chronicles her two years in hiding in her father's office building in Amsterdam during the second world war, is one of the world's most widely read books.
The film, directed by Jon Blair, combines personal testimony, never-before-seen photos, previously undiscovered family letters and rare archive footage (including the only known moving footage of Anne herself) to create a touching portrait of a courageous young girl who lived with dignity amid horrendous circumstances.
