Organisers are billing Kuala Lumpur's Live and Loud 07 as 'Asia's mother of all music festivals' and the figures support that boast.
More than 50 international and local acts will make in excess of 45 hours of music over 10 days. And the festival venues are spread across the city in keeping with the belief that bigger is definitely better.
For local acts, the event is a chance to share centre stage with seasoned artists from around the world. Malaysian pop princess, Dayang Nurfaizah, is a case in point. As part of the festival's acoustic programme, Dayang will feature alongside the likes of British R&B act James Morrison - and says she can only benefit from the experience.
Having attended Beyonce's Jakarta concert earlier this month, Dayang has returned home inspired and hopes Live and Loud will have the same effect on her and other local acts. 'I won't be able to do what Beyonce did, but I want to emulate her spirit and enthusiasm on stage,' Dayang says. 'She's just incredible. I still have a long way to go if I want to be as fantastic a performer as her.
'I'm lucky and grateful to have been chosen to perform at Live and Loud,' she says, adding that the festival will give her a chance to sing 'songs that best represent me'.
Dayang's presence on the bill - along with Morrison and rising Australian singer-songwriter Rick Price at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre - should ensure a broad audience.
