More than 1,500 cheering and flag-waving supporters flocked to the Hong Kong Stadium earlier this month to watch the game between WoFoo Tai Po and South China - the two most widely admired teams in the league.

While Tai Po are the first neighbourhood team to make the leap to the First Division and have a loyal fan base, South China have always had a crowd favourite thanks to its long history.

Among the enthusiastic South China fans were Kwok Wai-shing, 15, who drummed incessantly, and Rain Wong Ka-chun, 17, whose chanting accompanied the drumming throughout the match.

'My dad started to take me to the games in 1998. He was also a big South China fan,' said Rain, who was a big supporter of Lee Kin-wo when the veteran played for South China on the right wing.

'My dad passed away five years ago, and my wish is to study for another two to three years and then try getting into the South China youth team. I think doing that will be fulfilling my dad's wish.'
