Ocean Park will be the exotic setting for the adventure of a lifetime after it was announced as the venue for the latest Eco Action Asia Adventure race. On November 14 Michael Maddess, director of the Action Asia Foundation, Dominic Purvis, general manager of Asia Miles, and Judy Chen, foundation chair of the Ocean Park Conservation Foundation, announced the details of the event, which will be held on Saturday. The race comprises of two elements, one for families and the other for adventure racers. Families will take part in a 4km scenic eco walk from Ocean Park to Repulse Bay that aims to combine fun and education. The athletes will compete in a 10-km race involving trail running and kayaking through Aberdeen Country Park and Deep Water Bay. A dolphin encounter is the top prize in the Eco walk. Trophies will be awarded to winners of the Eco Adventure. Both events are designed to raise awareness and funds for environmental issues and conservation projects. 'Our athletes need clean air to compete in, so it makes perfect sense for us to do more to support environmental issues,' said Mr Maddess. The funds raised will be donated to the Action Asia Foundation and the Ocean Park Conservation Foundation. Eco Walk entry costs $50 per person or $100 per family (maximum of five people). The Eco Adventure is $800 per team of two athletes. Event information and forms can be found at www.actionasia.com Nelson is a Young Post intern
