Lonely ladies and gays, despair not. Help is at hand. The legendary boyfriend's arm pillow, made in Japan, has reached Hong Kong. The pillow is shaped like an upper torso with an extended arm. Ergonomically designed, it can wrap around you and keep you company.
Whether you are sitting upright and watching TV on a sofa or lying down in bed in the cold winter night, it offers support for your neck and back. You can dress it up in different shirts and pyjamas. It also comes in different colours. It does not, however, have a head.
'This helps you imagine a face you find most comfortable with,' a sales brochure says. So lonely nights are a thing of the past then? 'They are very popular, and very comfy,' said a sales lady at SuzuranBed, its distributer in Hong Kong. One male customer apparently came in and bought one for his girlfriend. For fun, we hope.
But what about a girlfriend's arm pillow? Surely some guys prefer that.
The shop said it decided not to order it because it featured not an arm, but two legs, and their proportions made them look like severed body parts. 'It's kind of gross and indecent, so we decided not to sell it,' the lady said.
There are plenty of rubber dolls around anyway.
