Wasps sting six hikers
Six hikers from two separate groups were attacked by wasps in Tai Lam Country Park yesterday. They were stung on their heads and hands. Police said a group of three men and two women were hiking near Ho Pui Reservoir at about noon when the wasps suddenly appeared and stung them. At the same time, a group of nine hikers were also attacked by wasps.
10 held after barbecue fight
Ten men, aged between 17 and 50, were arrested after a fight broke out at a barbecue. Three of those held suffered stab wounds and had to be taken to hospital. Police said a group of men had been having a barbecue at about midnight in a park near Tsui Ping South Estate when they were attacked by a gang.
Police probe bed-shop fire
Police were investigating a suspected case of arson after a bed accessories shop in a Tai Po shopping centre burned down. The fire broke out at about 3.30am at the Fu Hang Estate shopping centre when cotton quilts caught fire. The blaze was put out in minutes.
