POLICE will set up four command posts to regulate an expected crowd of 400,000 flocking to the flower fair at Victoria Park on Lunar New Year's Eve.

More than 450 officers will be sent to man the ''one-way tidal flow'' crowd control system at the fair.

From 8 pm to the end of the fair before dawn, traffic near the park will be closed for pedestrians only and Yee Wo Street and Causeway Road will be opened for buses and minibuses only.

Police have warned that cars parked illegally in the area will be towed away.

Officers will be on guard at the park's 12 main gates.

Police expect the peak hours to be between midnight and 2am during which the police will maintain the full force of 450 officers on the spot.
