Sailors battle for island honours

The Hong Kong Yacht Club's annual Around the Island Race took place on November 18, sponsored for the second year running by Italian cashmere label Loro Piana.

This year, more than 160 boats, including outrigger canoes, row boats and yachts, took part in the 26-nautical mile circumnavigation of Hong Kong Island. Passionate sailor Pier Luigi Loro Piana, who runs the Italian clothing label with his brother Sergio Loro Piana, was one of those competing.

Among the guests enjoying the event from the comfort of the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club, where sailors joined them after the race, were Stefano Giacotto and Helen Rong, Gerd and Cecilina Glaser, Kam Wai-ngan, Stephen Greer and Paul Jackson.
