Maggots infest elderly centre resident

The Department of Health yesterday confirmed a local case of human myiasis involving a 92-year-old woman living in a home for the elderly in Wong Tai Sin, the 13th case of the condition reported to the government this year. A dentist found maggots in the woman's mouth when she consulted him about bleeding gums on Christmas Eve. The condition is caused by parasitic maggots of flies.
