Another year comes to an end, with certainly a lot more gadgets on the market now. For the gadget industry, 2007 was a busy year. It was the year of the Apple iPhone and HTC Touch, the Nintendo Wii and Sony PS3, the Nokia N95 and SonyEricsson K850, the Canon G9, the Asus Eee PC, and many, many more. As we bid farewell to 2007, many of our favourite gadgets are due for upgrades in 2008 so get your wallet ready. Apple's iPhone (like the HTC Touch Dual this month) will get a much-anticipated upgrade to support fast 3G data connections. While a 3G version is definitely on the way, speculation of a new design remains unconfirmed. One of the hottest items of 2006, the Nintendo DS Lite, is also rumoured for an upgrade. The new DS will apparently be thinner because it will get rid of the old Gameboy cartridge slot and feature bigger displays. But no release date has been set yet. In 2008, digital imaging is also due for an upgrade with off-the-shelf compact models, such as Panasonic's Lumix DMC-FX100K, now offering more than 10 megapixel image resolution in slim and compact bodies. The cameras inside phones will also be boosted to 5 megapixels - like the N95, K850 and LG's Viewty. No doubt, PCs will become more powerful, memory capacity and displays will get bigger, and yes, high-definition TV is on the way to Hong Kong. And those are only the trends we know about - just imagine the gadgets that are still kept under wraps. Pros: 2008 will bring upgrades, meaning better, faster and more powerful gadgets Cons: get your wallet ready because upgrading won't be cheap
