One of the most eccentric movies to hit local screens in recent months, The Darjeeling Limited by maverick filmmaker Wes Anderson tells the story of three estranged brothers - Francis (Owen Wilson), Peter (Adrien Brody) and Jack (Jason Schwartzman) - who embark on a train ride through India a year after their father's death.

Each sibling has his own issues to deal with. While Francis is yet to recover from a near-fatal motorcycle crash - probably a suicide attempt - and has his scarred face bandaged like a mummy, Peter is unhappily married and is about to become a father. Despite flirting with a female attendant on the train, Jack is so emotionally empty that he makes long-distance calls to listen to messages on his ex-girlfriend's answering machine.

Travelling with a cartload of luggage (a symbol of their emotional burdens) and trapped inside a small train cabin, the three brothers fight and bicker when they are not downing cough syrup or each other's painkillers. Occasionally they will get off the train - or get kicked off it - to buy a poisonous snake or pray for enlightenment.
