Fair highlights lives of exchange students in Hong Kong

Since its launch in 2001, the AFS Intercultural Fair has been a popular event among local students. Participants are able to experience international cultural exchanges with people from different nationalities.

This year, the AFS Intercultural Fair will be held on January 26, from 9am to 5pm, at Shatin Pui Ying College.

Volunteering AFS exchange students from countries including Austria, Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland and many more, will share with local students their mother tongues, lifestyles, art, festivals, trends and food culture.

Seven AFS volunteers from Beijing, Japan, Thailand and Malaysia will show their special cultures.

There will also be 'Country Booths' designed and hosted by AFS exchange students aged between 15 and 18.

Thai and Turkish dances, French cuisine, Italian violin performances and more will be on display.

Pakistani and Nepali students from local secondary schools will also host their own booths at the fair.

More than 40 local schools have already signed up to take part in the programme.

To sign up and for more details, call 2802 0383 or visit www.afs.org.hk. Registration for walk-in students will only be available after 2.30pm.
