Local education crosses borders as students participating in Lingnan University's EMBA programme venture to the mainland for learning opportunities in the business industry.
The programme was established by the university in 2001, and has provided students with a diverse learning experience. One of the major benefits of the programme is the study tour in Shanghai.
Lingnan University students may partake in a travel opportunity that takes them to Shanghai business organisations, where they attend seminars and discussions during their week-long stay. They then submit a report on the differences they have observed between Hong Kong and Shanghai-based companies.
As for the EMBA programme itself, the syllabus contains a number of courses that take advantage of the cross-border relationship between Lingnan University and Shanghai's Donghua University.
The Strategic Marketing Management course, for example, splits the Lingnan and Donghua students into groups for a competitive simulation game.
The teams are each provided with their own marketing models which they must analyse and make marketing decisions on. Their conclusions are later assessed by a professor and discussed by the class.
