Postgraduate Diploma in English Studies, English Centre, University of Hong Kong

Jointly offered by the School of English and the School of Linguistics, the PDipES is designed to enhance subject knowledge requirements for new and serving teachers of English in Hong Kong schools and was endorsed by the then Education and Manpower Bureau (EMB), now the Education Bureau. The course requires students to complete 12, 20-hour courses over two years that involve phonetics and phonology for English language teaching, pedagogic grammar, English and subject knowledge and lexis, morphology and semantics for English language teaching. Requirements A bachelor's degree obtained from universities in Hong Kong. Candidates who obtained their degrees from universities outside Hong Kong need a satisfactory result in English standard test: TOEFL 550 or above (paper-based test), or 213 or above (computer-based test) or 79 or above (internet-based test). Cost The tuition fee for the entire programme is HK$60,000 and it is to be paid in four equal instalments of HK$15,000 each in the four semesters over two years).
