Hong Kong have turned to the League XI, who cruised to victory in this month's Guangdong Interport competition, to help them try to win their first Lunar New Year Cup in 16 years.
The Hong Kong Football Association confirmed the line-up for the two-day Lunar New Year event yesterday.
Sponsored by Wing Lung Bank, the tournament features Penarol of Uruguay, Hajduk Split of Croatia, Ulsan Hyundai of South Korea and the League XI.
'We have not won the tournament for almost 20 years but this will be the first time we have a real chance,' said HKFA chairman Brian Leung Hung-tak.
'This will probably be the strongest League XI we have had in recent years, as you can tell by their success in the Interport.'
Hong Kong beat Guangdong 4-0 on aggregate in the annual home-and-away competition.
