Eastern team manager Peter Leung Shou-chi has slammed the decision to exclude their top scorer, Rodrigo Galvao, from the League XI for the Lunar New Year Cup. The Brazilian striker hit his 11th goal of the season yesterday as Eastern held Lanwa Redbull to a 1-1 draw in their League Cup opening group match at Mong Kok Stadium. 'He is one of the most dangerous players inside the box and his goal-scoring record speaks for itself,' said Leung. 'I cannot understand why he is not even included in the 25-member training squad.' The Hong Kong Football Association announced the squad last week for training.'They should at least give him a chance in the training sessions. If he fails to impress, they can kick him out,' Leung said. Steven Lo Kit-shing, one of the three League XI team managers said Galvao's style did not fit the squad. Galvao, who struck twice in the Senior Shield final to help Eastern win their first title of the season, was the saviour again in the 54th minute yesterday, cancelling out Aldo Villalba Torres' goal for Lanwa in stoppage time of the first half. In another pool B match, Wang Xuanhong scored late for Citizen to hold Bulova Rangers 1-1 after Liang Zicheng scored the opener.
