Who started it?

Dane Ole Henriksen's interest in skincare was piqued during a visit to Indonesia when his skin became inflamed with cystic acne. He found an aesthetician who used botanicals to improve his complexion. He moved to London to pursue degrees in skincare and cosmetic chemistry, before going to the US, where his LA spa has been in business for three decades.

Henriksen says: 'My philosophy is clearly focused on being celebratory in all aspects of life and oneself. I put equal emphasis on creating balance in one's daily life via healthy eating habits, taking time for peace and quiet via meditation, exercising one's body daily in a sensible manner, taking time for family and friends, but also allowing at least five minutes morning and night dedicated to one's skincare routine.
