Companies in the Technological Achievement category are rewarded for patiently developing their products
Companies that patiently developed their products were rewarded in the Technological Achievement category. Judges were not interested in companies that went for quick results and big sales volumes, according to Cheung Shu-wing, vice-president of Business Development and Technology Support at the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation.
The corporation co-ordinates the Technological Achievement category of the annual awards.
While Altai Technologies won the grand award, there were three award winners and five other firms that won certificates of merit. The winners were short-listed from 30 entries, ranging from information technology, electronic technology, bio-technology, architectural and environmental technology companies.
Mr Cheung, the judging panel's co-ordinator, said the entries last year were more diversified in terms of different industries. He was also delighted that more small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) participated in the competition.
'Being awarded will help SMEs to gain more recognition and publicity. This is what they need in the early days of business,' he said.
