You can't put Newton Faulkner in a box. He is a bit of everything: soft rocker, guitar ace and folk artist. His debut album Hand Built by Robots is proof of his talent and versatility.

Above all, it is a collection of catchy songs about the human condition.

The album could easily be the soundtrack to a coming-of-age movie. Lost in love and out of work, the young man cries himself to sleep, dreams happy dreams and wakes up realising there's hope in this world after all.

These lessons were summed up in The Beatles' A Day in the Life on their classic album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.

Faulkner somehow updates and expands them into 17 laidback songs, with humorous lyrics and delicate guitar playing rendering the messages more upbeat and easier to digest.

The single Dream Catch Me is irresistibly catchy, while Feel Likes Home is like a massage for your ears. Straight Towards The Sun is almost depressing, while Gone in the Morning is a bouncy track that you can't help but sing along to.
