The Hong Kong government is appealing for design  ideas for  Hong Kong's booth  at the World Expo in Shanghai in 2010.
The Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau and the Architectural Services Department  have jointly organised a design competition, which is sponsored by the Hong Kong Institute of Architects.
The government said  last night it wanted to showcase to the world  Hong Kong's quality of life at the exhibition, in which a Hong Kong pavilion will  stand with the China pavilion.
With the theme 'Hong Kong - A City with Unlimited Potential', the Hong Kong pavilion would show  the global community the finer aspects of the city's  eco-friendly lifestyle and working conditions, a government statement said.
Entries were  required to be submitted by  March 13.
A seven-member panel, headed by Chief Secretary Henry Tang Ying-yen, will select the  winning design, to be announced in April.
Hong Kong authorities  recently geared up preparations for the world expo after business and cultural leaders complained about  a lack of planning.
The competition, which will  reward  winners with cash, is open to members of the Hong Kong Institute of Architects, Institution of Engineers, Designers Association, Institute of Landscape Architects,   Institute of Planners   and the Institute of Surveyors.
Hong Kong residents can also join teams led by  eligible entrants.
World Expo 2010 Shanghai China,   with the theme 'Better City, Better Life', will be held from May to October 2010.
