Police to quiz whaling activists on Antarctic exploits

CANBERRA - Australian police will grill the anti-whaling activists who docked in Australia amid pressure from Japan for Canberra to take stronger action over recent protests in icy waters near Antarctica. The duo, Australian Benjamin Potts and Briton Giles Lane, were held aboard a Japanese whaling vessel for three days after they boarded it illegally. Whaling activities were suspended before they were handed to an Australian fisheries patrol vessel. Police said they were initially looking at whether international sea laws had been broken by either the protesters or the Japanese. Reuters
