Most movie soundtracks are just supplements to a movie - they're a great accompaniment, but don't mean much on their own.
But the August Rush one is an exception. The tracks tell a story through music and make you want to see the film.
The story is a musical fairy tale. A brilliant cellist and a handsome guitar player fall in love at first sight but fate tears them apart after a single night.
The cellist discovers she is pregnant but, after gaining consciousness after a car accident, her father tells her she lost the child.
But she had given birth to a son, a musical prodigy, nicknamed August Rush by his fellow street musicians. He performs around New York, in the belief that music will reunite him with his parents.
The soundtrack is a delight from start to end. Bach/Break by Steve Erdody and actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers ( who plays August's dad) is a delightful blend of classical and modern rock.
