Nude photos victim Gillian Chung admits to being silly but says she has grown up
Canto-pop star Gillian Chung Yan-tung, seen repeatedly on the internet in celebrity sex pictures that have shocked the entertainment world in the past two weeks, apologised to the public yesterday for being 'silly' and 'naive'.
Still not admitting directly that the pictures were actually of her, the singer said at a press conference in front of a group of screaming fans: 'The incident has caused lots of frustration and damage to people surrounding me and myself. I admit that I was too naive and silly but now I have grown up.'
Chung, who appeared with her partner in the Twins duo, Charlene Choi Cheuk-yin, was the first of the affected stars to comment in public on the scandal, although singer-actor Edison Chen Koon-hei made a video statement apologising to anyone hurt by what he termed a 'strange, strange ordeal'.
Revealing images purported to be of Chen, actress Cecilia Cheung Pak-chi and former actress Bobo Chan Man-woon have also been widely circulated.
Chung's appearance came as the Television and Entertainment Licensing Authority said it had received 34 complaints about media coverage of the scandal, in which strategically cropped pictures have been published frequently in several newspapers.
