It may still be cold outside but spring/summer merchandise is already arriving in stores. This season designers offered myriad trends to choose from. To help narrow it down, consult our list of the top 10 items you need to get you through to autumn.

1. Something floral

This is the trend for spring, and appeared on everything from jumpsuits at Stella McCartney to pyjama pants at Dries Van Noten. As for the type of floral print, anything goes, from wild flowers and blown-up computer prints as seen at Balenciaga to the English Garden prints chosen by Ralph Lauren.

There is a way to make this trend edgy. Choose pieces that have modern silhouettes, such as Balenciaga's round shoulder tops and exaggerated hourglass dresses, or the elegant hand-painted shift dress seen at Dolce & Gabbana. Don't be afraid to mix your blooms, like Dries Van Noten, who printed several different patterns on one piece. Finish with a pair of killer heels to make the look more urban.

If you're more of a wallflower, opt for a floral accessory such as a pair of pumps or a clutch bag to complete your look.

2. Stars and stripes
