You and fellow illustrator Lee Chi-hoi have published a new comic book inspired by the literary works of 12 local authors, including Xi Xi, Dung Kai-cheung, Liu Yichang and poet Lau Yi-ching. What was the starting point for this book, and how did these local authors inspire your comic creation?
Comic writer Kong Khong-chang, aka KongKee:
'Chi-hoi and I have read a lot of local literature and thought about how two different media - comics and words - can inspire each other.
'We want to promote local literature and introduce the creations of different generations of local authors through our comics. We also hope their words inspire us into exploring the possibilities of comic writing.
'One of my works inspired by poet Kun Nan uses non-linear narrative and is created like collage, imitating Kun's writing style. The sarcastic style of prose writer Wai Yuen inspired me to take his point of view in creating comics about trivial things happening to me.
'Some are more experimental. For instance, Dung Kai-cheung's novels lead to a comic where lots of Chinese characters are used as imagery and symbols to tell a story.
