A parents' group has accused some parents of double standards over the celebrity sex-photos saga.

'We have heard from some teenagers that their parents will discuss the particulars of the nude photos during dinner but do not allow them to see the pictures,' Elizabeth Quat, a consultant for the Hong Kong Alliance of Parents Association said.

'Some parents who never surf on the internet will ask their children to locate the nude images for them.'

Since late last month, images purportedly of several Hong Kong singers, film stars and models in sexual poses have been circulating on the internet. The photos and videos are said to be of singer-actor Edison Chen Koon-hei, Canto-pop star Gillian Chung Yan-tung, actress Cecilia Cheung Pak-chi, former actress Bobo Chan Man-woon, model-actress Rachel Ngan Wing-sze, former singer Candice Chan Si-wai, 2001 Miss Chinese International contestant Mandy Chen Yu-ju and Chen's current girlfriend, Vincy Yeung Wing-ching, niece of entertainment tycoon Albert Yeung Sau-shing.

The alliance said the scandal had afforded parents an opportunity for discussion with their children, and it was important that parents took the right attitude.

Dr Quat said parents should not just tell their children not to look at the pictures, but should explain why it was wrong to do so.

Alliance chairwoman Chan Siu-chu said it had received 10 calls from parents asking how to explain the nude pictures saga to their children.
