What's it used in? Moisturisers, makeup and SPF creams. It's an ester of palmitic acid derived from coconut oil.
What does it do? It's used as a thickening agent and emollient to add silkiness to skin and hair.
Any controversy? It's low hazard but if you have oily skin it's best to avoid as it can clog pores and promote acne. It's also been linked to skin irritations and dermatitis.
