THE Attorney-General has applied to transfer Rais Saniman, former director of Bumiputra Malaysia Finance Ltd (BMFL), to the High Court for trial.
Saniman, 59, was extradited to Hong Kong from France last week to face five charges of fraud and deception.
The application was made under the Complex Commercial Crime Ordinance.
No plea was taken.
Magistrate Fergal Sweeney remanded Saniman in Independent Commission Against Corruption custody until a trial date is fixed in the High Court where former Carrian boss George Tan Soon Gin is awaiting trial on related charges.
Defence counsel Alec Emmerson raised no objection to Saniman's remand into ICAC custody.
The defendant faces two counts of conspiracy to defraud and three charges of obtaining property by deception.
