Trade union chairman joins race for Kowloon East seats
The Hong Kong Federation of Trade Unions chairman Wong Kwok-kin will join incumbent legislator Chan Yuen-han in the contest for Kowloon East seats in the Legislative Council election in September, federation president Cheng Yiu-tong said yesterday. He added that the order of the candidates on the ticket was yet to be decided and he hoped the federation could win one or two more seats on top of the four it has, including the one held by Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong chairman Tam Yiu-chung.
Civil service reshuffle
Ma Lee-tak, 54, principal government engineer, will serve as director of water supplies from Monday. Peter Lau Ka-keung, 51, principal government engineer, will succeed Wong Chee-keung, 60, as director of drainage services from March 10. Michael Chan Chi-pui, 45, will succeed Brian Butt Yiu-ming, 53, as Government Flying Service controller from March 27.
Tsang to attend NPC opening
Chief Executive Donald Tsang Yam-kuen will leave for Beijing on Tuesday to attend the 11th National People's Congress' first session.
