The new Britney Spears album should have been titled Gimme, Gimme More Money. The pop princess' woes have led her to record an album to get a quick cash infusion to cover her mounting legal fees.
Gimme More, which made its disastrous debut at the VMA awards last year, is a sultry and sexy song, though the repetition of the words 'gimme more' makes you want to teach Spears some new vocabulary.
The second track, Piece of Me, comes across as a whiny dialogue about how she has been hounded by the paparazzi and constantly criticised. The song would have been better as a sad, slow ballad than an emotionally empty plea for sympathy.
Heaven On Earth seems like a track off Paris Hilton's CD - its bubblegum pop and catchy chorus will have you bopping around.
Spears' latest effort is only marginally better than Hilton's album - mainly because she didn't butcher a classic as Hilton did with a cover of Rod Stewart's Do Ya Think I'm Sexy.
Blackout will mainly appeal to Britney fans - if you want uninspiring, emotionless music, this is it.
