Two more people have been arrested in Shandong province for posting the infamous Hong Kong celebrity sex pictures on the Net, according to a state media report yesterday.
One of the men, surnamed Wei, 25, was arrested on February 12 for uploading 1,174 pictures of singer and actor Edison Chen Koon-hei engaged in sex with celebrities onto a chat room of QQ.com for downloads, the Xinhua report said.
Wei allegedly provided links to the chat room at cbbn.bbs, a popular online forum, to canvass interest, according to Xinhua, which quoted the Net supervision police in Zibo .
Wei was reportedly being detained and awaiting trial.
Police in Zibo said Wei confessed he obtained the pictures from a person outside Shandong when the pictures started to leak out.
The other man, surnamed Li, 21, was given 10 days' detention and fined 3,000 yuan (HK$3,280) on February 15 for uploading more than 180 of the pictures to his personal space at QQ.com. Police in Taian , Shandong, said Li provided links and codes to access the pictures through his webpage to solicit visits to increase its popularity, the report said.
