Memorial for Fei Fei draws complaints
The emotional memorial event for entertainer Lydia Sum Tin-ha (also known as Lydia Shum) at the Hong Kong Coliseum on Sunday did not move everyone.
While millions mourned the death of the comedienne at the ceremony or at home watching the live TV broadcast, at least 16 people were moved to file complaints with the Broadcasting Authority.
They complained that the almost three-hour broadcast - which covered the two-hour ceremony and footage taken before and after the ceremony - was too long.
They also said that showing such a programme had ruined the mood of their day of relaxation.
The broadcast also interrupted routine programming and deprived them of their right to choose what they wanted to watch.
One of the organiser's of the Coliseum event, TVB, said it received two complaints about the outburst by Sum's close friend, veteran actor and filmmaker Alan Tang Kwong-wing.
They said Tang's attack on Sum's former husband, actor Adam Cheng Siu-chow, for not looking after the late actress' only daughter, Joyce Cheng Yan-yee, and his demand for Cheng to explain why he had not been there when Sum was dying, were inappropriate.
