What is it?

Skin-care and body products that use grapes as the main ingredient.

Who's behind it?

Mathilde and Bertrand Thomas, with the backing of Mathilde's parents, the owners of a Bordeaux vineyard. The idea stemmed from the fact that grape seeds contain polyphenols which, when stabilised, are one of the most effective plant-based antioxidants. So instead of being thrown away after the wine harvest, grape seeds are now a major ingredient in Caudalie.

What's the spin?

Export manager Nathalie Ohana says the brand is the only one to stabilise resveratrol - an antioxidant found in the skin of red grapes - so it's easily absorbed to stop wrinkles.
