Good Ba Ba looked every inch a champion at Sha Tin yesterday in a superb barrier trial that should send shivers through the Sacred Kingdom camp.
Good Ba Ba and Sacred Kingdom will clash in the HK$4.5 million Queen's Silver Jubilee Cup on Derby day (a week on Sunday) in what is being billed as the race of the season.
It will be a question-mark challenge between the champion sprinter and the champion miler at the intermediate distance of 1,400m.
Yesterday's trial over 1,000m down the straight was a jog in the park for Good Ba Ba, who has never trialled more impressively.
The former HK International Sale graduate began from barrier one but travelled so effortlessly that he was virtually in front from the outset and, although jockey Olivier Doleuze never let him go at any stage, he ultimately bounded to the line to score by 31/2 lengths in the good time of 58.5 seconds.
Good Ba Ba's final 400m split was 22.6 seconds, while his final 200m was run in 11.79 seconds.
