Perfume: 'I am wearing Vera Wang but I like to change my scent depending on my mood.'

Stage outfit: 'When I perform, my clothes have to adapt to my posture: a guitar on my lap and my leg raised on a footstool. The skirt has to be longer than normal and particularly wide at the knees. Also, the top of the dress must have a plain finish, so it doesn't rattle against the back of the guitar. For this reason I tend to have my clothes designed and tailored for me.'

Getaway: Spain. 'Particularly the south of the country. I have a fondness for the colours, smells, food, people, light, culture and, of course, the music.'

Dish: hot pot. 'When I tour, I often try to find a Sichuan restaurant in the cities en route. Each time I eat this dish, it reminds me of my homeland.'

Composition: Recuerdos de la Alhambra by Francisco Tarrega. 'It is said that it was written for his lover, which perhaps helps explain its beauty. It's a piece that has been with me throughout my life.'
