WE recently arrived in England, as many people from Hong Kong do, on the early morning flight into Heathrow. At that time of day, loaded down with baggage, we were easy targets for thieves. However, the theft of our luggage occurred, not at the airport but, at Kings Cross railway station. British Rail now has a policy of open stations where anyone is at liberty to wander in and out on and off trains prior to their departure.
We were settling into our compartment when a woman walked in, picked up a bag, walked off and disappeared at speed. We have since heard of a family, travelling from London, who arrived in Scotland to find that all their luggage had been ''unloaded'' down the line. A warning to visitors to the UK, particularly those early morning arrivals - beware of Britain. D.E. & S.E. BRADFORD Richmond, N. Yorkshire
