Lenovo has set out to prove that, like Apple with its MacBook Air, it too can 'think thin'. With its new ThinkPad X300, Lenovo manages to raise the bar in the ultra-thin notebook category by giving users far more than the bare essentials.

Rather than going on a 'crash diet' to achieve its streamlined profile, the X300, measuring only 23.4mm at its thickest point, doesn't compromise on features or functionality.

In fact, the X300 not only stands up against the MacBook Air, but most full-sized notebooks on the market today - and outdoes them.

While it looks pretty standard, its components and integrated functionality are state-of-the-art, starting with the 13.3-inch widescreen display, which is powered by the latest LED. LED displays are more energy efficient than TFT ones and can extend the X300's battery life to up to 10 hours with an extra battery option.

Despite its slim form, the X300 comes with a drive bay for either a DVD player (or an extra battery), and comes with three USB ports, compared to the MacBook Air with no drive bay, a non-removable battery and only one USB port.

Additional features include the full range of wireless LAN connectivity options, Ethernet port for broadband, and the integration of wireless USB, a short-range wireless technology, like Bluetooth, for connecting to other devices.
