Toni & Guy art director Fernando Viseu (below) talks about the importance of using products to keep your hair looking healthy. 'It's important to remember that before you blow-dry you must put products on your hair to protect it from splitting or becoming too dry. Many people skip this step and it can lead to damaged hair. 'Comb through with a protein mist to detangle your hair before blow-drying. Then, if you have straight hair, use a large round metal brush with a ceramic base. This will help smooth out your hair to make it shiny, giving it movement and body. 'One trick is to use warm air from the blow-dryer and then just before finishing a section, turn the dryer around and use the back vent to blow cool air onto your hair. This will help keep it smooth and frizz-free, and the style will hold for longer. 'A lot of people use ceramic straighteners but they forget to protect their hair from the heat. These straighteners can heat up to 200 degrees Celsius. They can be used every day but only if you remember to first apply products to protect your hair.'
