'Balance' was the key as Hong Kong's selectors named the 10 women who will face the United States and Netherlands in the Cable & Wireless women's sevens next week. 'We picked them on performance, experience, the effects on the youngsters and we have to think, obviously, of effectiveness,' said coach Zanio Yong Chi-fung. 'You need to have balance on your squad,' he said. 'The starting team wasn't difficult, but for the reserves, the three slots were tough to choose.' Last year's captain, flyhalf Emma Holland, will again lead the team. Yong said he selected her because she could help the young players 'develop and grow their own styles'. He was also looking to the future when the team will try to qualify in October for the first women's World Cup next March in Dubai. '[The Americans] are fast and strong,' Yong said of their pool A rivals. 'We played the Netherlands two years ago and they are big, but we have a chance to steal the game with our speed and tactics.' Hong Kong finished 10th last year. Hong Kong: Ng Wing-yee, Royce Chan Leong-sze, Daniella Means, Candy Cheng Tsz-teng, Emma Holland, Christine Gordon, Aggie Poon Pak-yan, Chan Ka-wai, Cookie Tse Man-sze, Florence Lin Wai-yin.
