Girls and boys battle it out for age group honours

Top seed Tommy Lam and fourth seed Eudice Chong won the 12-and-under boys' and girls' divisions, respectively, at the Lions Hong Kong National Junior Tennis Championships which ended earlier this month.

The competition, organised by the Hong Kong Tennis Association (HKTA), ran from February 16 to March 16 at Victoria Park. The event is now in its seventh year and attracted 672 players.

Wu Ho-ching successfully defended her crown as well. She beat third seed Feng Yi-di 6-3, 6-4 in the girls' 18-and-under singles category. In the 16-and-under age group, third seed Lui Shing-fung and second seed Kelvin Lam met in the boys' singles final.

The players faced off in last year's CRC School Boys' final, as well as in last month's title clash at the K-Swiss Inter-School Tennis Championships. Shing-fung lost to Kelvin on both previous occasions, but he took revenge by winning 7-6, 6-3 earlier this month.
