Animated movie DragonLance: Dragons of Autumn Twilight is based on the first book in the fantasy trilogy, DragonLance Chronicles.
The original story was created by Tracy Hickman and Margaret Weis in 1984 and was based on a Dungeons & Dragons game session. Both authors have given creative assistance on the screenplay adaptation.
The film is directed by Will Meugniot (Stargate: Infinity) and features the voice talents of Michael Rosenbaum (Smallville), Kiefer Sutherland (24), Lucy Lawless (Xena: Warrior Princess) and Michelle Trachtenberg (Buffy the Vampire Slayer).
The story charts the adventures of a group of friends who reunite after pursuing their own quest for five years.
On their return, they find their village has fallen under the control of goblins. The group meets a pair of travellers, Riverwind and Goldmoon, who own a blue crystal staff said to possess healing properties and be a holy artefact of the Goddess Mishakal.
Unknown to everyone, the staff is wanted by the evil Verminaard. The gang is forced to go on the run to avoid him while trying to discover the staff's secret.
