A dynamic, ambitious and mobile person for whom travel is an adventure is sought to fill this role. ALS International is handling the search for a global propriety fund in need of an assistant to the chairman. The chairman requires a key individual who can essentially be his 'right hand'. The role will require you to travel extensively, providing a range of analytical support while ensuring the smooth running of his schedule and the effective response to business issues. Applicants with a background in general business, marketing, legal, finance or accounting could all qualify. The role requires three to eight years of experience but, more importantly, an outstanding fit with the organisation's culture of innovation and integrity. 'This role is important because if this person is not operating at the right level, it has a direct impact on the chairman's ability to be effective,' said consultant Nick Marett. The propriety fund, which invests primarily in equities in emerging markets, is an organisation that places importance on ethics and social investment and has been heavily involved in improving corporate governance. The company seeks a meticulous person with a range of soft skills. 'Attention to detail is absolutely imperative. We can't stress enough the importance of that,' he said. Cultural awareness and the ability to converse not just on business issues, but also on a wide range of subjects would also be important as there would be situations where the person would have to deal with people from senior business heads to royal families. 'They need to be able to operate at that level comfortably, be very internationally minded and a well rounded individual,' he said.
