The Centre for Food Safety warned consumers yesterday not to eat a particular batch of fresh-frozen salted croaker because of possible contamination with Clostridium botulinum, a bacterium that can cause botulism, a potentially fatal illness. The centre also appealed to traders to stop selling the product, item No HC0500402. The product's expiration date is August 2, 2009. Consumers were warned not to eat the product even if it did not look or smell spoiled.
