THE Law's Foundation has made a generous donation of $65,000 to Law Ting Pong Secondary School for its social service project, ''Caring for the Elderly''.
Law's Foundation chairman Raymond Law Ka-kui said the project was approved after careful consideration.
He said it was a nice proposal, with the idea inspired by Po Leung Kuk's ''Child Sponsorship Programme''. The project would help students to learn to respect and care for senior citizens, he said.
''We believe education should not be limited to just textbook knowledge, it should also include activity-based programmes like this one,'' Mr Law said.
If the project proved a success, the foundation would invite another 10 secondary schools to take part.
The 10 schools will be selected from different districts. Each school can serve about 300 senior citizens, and so around 3,000 old people will benefit in all, he pointed out.
