The shooting was like playtime for the two children who star in Run Papa Run, a new movie directed by Taiwanese actress-cum-filmmaker Sylvia Chang Ai-chia.

The film stars Louis Koo Tin-lok as a gang boss who mellows after becoming dad.

'It's a lot of fun. The assistant director bought me a soft drink on the second day of filming,' says the seven-year-old Kelly Wong Wai-lam, who plays the daughter of the gangster.

For the two-and-a half-year- old Monica Lam Ka-yu, who plays the toddler's version of the child, the fun was a mishap involving Koo on the beach.

'The scene required her to wear a swimsuit, and she couldn't wear a diaper because it would look too bulky. So she wet her pants when Koo was holding her during preparation for the shot,' says Monica's mother Silvia Ng Sze-wun.

While the movie is about father-and-daughter relationship, it is the mothers who had sacrificed most for the child actresses, accompanying them to the film set and taking care of them during the shoot - despite opposition from the fathers.

'Her dad didn't agree to her starring in a movie. He thought the shooting would be tough for her. Although now, after he saw the film poster, he's looking forward to watch the movie,' says Ms Ng.
