Tsang to spend two days at Boao Forum on Hainan
Chief Executive Donald Tsang Yam-kuen will leave for Hainan province on Friday to attend the annual Boao Forum. This year's conference theme is 'Green Asia: moving towards win-win through changes'. Mr Tsang will return to Hong Kong on Sunday. During his absence, Financial Secretary John Tsang Chun-wah will be acting chief executive on Friday until Chief Secretary Henry Tang Ying-yen returns from Beijing the same day to take over as acting chief.
Foreign currency reserves rise
Hong Kong's foreign currency reserves increased to US$160.7 billion at the end of March from US$160.2 billion a month earlier, the Monetary Authority announced. The US$160.7 billion represents more than seven times the currency in circulation in Hong Kong. The city is the world's ninth largest holder of foreign currency reserves.
Worker killed on casino site
A Hong Kong worker died in an industrial accident on a construction site at Macau's largest casino resort, the Venetian. The 39-year-old worker suffered severe head injuries after plunging from a high point on the Cotai Strip site. He was taken to hospital and was certified dead in the afternoon.
