South China are back in control of the title race after they defeated Workable 4-1 in the Coolpoint Ventilation League at Mong Kok Stadium last night. It was their first victory in four matches, having lost their last two league games and an AFC Cup clash with Kedah of Malaysia. The Caroliners now sit four points clear of Citizen and with both teams having three matches left, South China look certain to retain their title.'The players have made some improvement, but have still to get back to their best, although the title road now looks brighter,' said South China convenor Steven Lo Kit-shing. Workable remain at the bottom after the defeat and have a fight on their hands to retain their top-flight status for next season. Wong Chin-hung drew first blood for South China in the 26th minute when his long-range effort from 30 metres beat goalkeeper Yapp Hung-fai. Au Yeung Yiu-chung equalised for Workable on 53 minutes when he pounced on a poor clearance from South China keeper Zhang Chunhui. But South China regained the lead 11 minutes later through Detinho. Maxwell's late double sealed victory.
