Nightclub waiter became drug courier
A NIGHTCLUB waiter was yesterday sentenced to eight years' jail for trafficking in more than 260 grams of heroin.
Tse Wai-loy, 29, had pleaded guilty before Deputy Judge Daniell in the High Court to two counts of trafficking in a dangerous drug.
Prosecutor Christina Ma said Tse was intercepted by patrolling police at 3 pm on December 15, 1992, in Shanghai Street, Kowloon.
A packet containing 147 grams of heroin was found on him.
A further 119 grams of the drug was found at his home nearby.
Under caution, he said he was a courier for a man called Sai Mou.
Defence counsel Richard Wong said in mitigation Tse had been a drug addict since 1988.
He could not finance his habit on his income as a nightclub captain.
He decided to take up an offer to act as a courier in exchange for the promise of cheaper drugs.
