CANADIAN Airlines has recently appointed Richard Webb as general manager for Hong Kong and Macau.

  As a result of the realignment of duties, Bernard Lu has been appointed passenger sales manager, Hong Kong and Macau. Mr Lu brings eight years' of account executive experience within Canadian Airlines to the position.

  William Koo has been appointed customer services manager, Hong Kong. He has 20 years' of airport experience in the company.

 NATWEST Capital Markets Ltd has appointed Chris Chan, formerly of Sumitomo Finance, Asia, and Gregory Kung, formerly of BOTCM, to the China team based in Hong Kong.

  In a supporting capacity, Giorgio Pilla has resigned from IDEA to join the Capital Markets Sales team as a strategic economist. He he will co-ordinate investor strategies on bonds and currencies with the treasury division.

 THE World Gold Council has appointed Simon Yau as promotion services manager, Hong Kong/China.

  A marketing graduate from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Mr Yau will be responsible for promotion and marketing activities for World Gold Council in the key markets of Hong Kong and China.

   Mr Yau was previously associate account director at Ogilvy and Mather China. Among the key accounts which he handled were Philips, Johnson and Johnson, Maxwell House Coffee and Boeing.

 THE Island Shangri-La Hong Kong has announced the promotion of Sidney Leung to director of public relations.

  Mr Leung joined Island Shangri-La's pre-opening team in December 1989 as assistant public relations manager. In 1991, he was promoted to public relations manager, a position he held until his recent promotion.

 HKR international, best known for its management and development of Discovery Bay, has announced the appointment of four new directors.

  Stewart Wong Sue-toa is the general manager of HKR's sales and marketing division and the managing director of Hanison Construction Company Limited, a subsidiary of the company.

  Abraham Chung Sum-tin is general manager of HKR international and a director of a number of HKR international's overseas subsidiaries and associated companies. Mr Chung has been with the company since 1978.

  Shen Tai-hing is the general manager of HKR international's hotel division, which owns and operates a chain of four luxury boutique hotels in Australia, Thailand and Singapore.

   Mr Shen is also executive director of HKR Asia Limited, a subsidiary of the company and has been involved with associated companies since 1965.

  Loretta Ho Pak-ching was previously general manager of Hong Kong Resort's administration, sales and marketing. She is a fellow of the Institute of Housing. Before joining Hong Kong Resort in 1987, Miss Ho had extensive experience in property marketing and management with leading Hong Kong property firms.

 HOI Sing Holdings Limited has appointed Kenneth Chen as director.

  Mr Chen will act as an independent non-executive director of Hoi Sing. He is currently a director of a local planning and investment consultancy firm with extensive experience in architecture and construction.

 HAMBRO Pacific Fund Management Limited has appointed Henrietta Luk as a director.

  Miss Luk joined Hambros in 1992 as a market specialist for South East Asian equities.

 SUZANNE Belanger has been made corporate marketing director with responsibilities for M. Design Company Limited, Manager Information Services International Limited, ASIA, INC., Asian Advertising & Marketing, and Manager's latest acquisition, Expression, abi-monthly magazine for the region's American Express Cardmembers.

 EAGLE Star Life Assurance Co. Ltd. has announced the appointment of Richard J. Rogers as director of international business. He will be responsible for the development, management and profitability of the international business unit.

   He will focus on further developing the expatriate market as well as other groups within the high net worth or high income sector for Eagle Star Life.

 POLAROID Corporation has announced the appointment of Michael J. LeBlanc, vice-president, Integrated Business Resources, to the position of Vice President of the Asia/Pacific Region of the company's core business, Photographic Imaging.

  Mr LeBlanc, who will work in Hong Kong, will report to Joseph R. Oldfield, executive vice-president, Photographic Imaging.

 AMY Chan has been appointed executive director of the Hong Kong Tourist Association with effect from May 1, 1994.

   She will succeed Eugene Sullivan who has chosen to take early retirement after nearly seven years with the HKTA.

 HEWLETT-PACKWARD Asia Pacific Ltd has appointed Gerry Sheridan as general manager, worldwide customer support organisation, Asia Pacific.

   He will be responsible for the maintenance, site services and operational support for customers in a region stretching from Japan to New Zealand and as far west as India.

  Mr Sheridan assumes his Hong Kong-based job after four years in Singapore, most recently as HP Asia Pacific support organisation manager. He has held a variety of service and support and professional services management positions with HP, having joined the company as a systems engineer in 1982.

 PYRAMID Technology, manufacturers of the Nile and ES series of UNIX servers, has appointed Raymond Chiu as managing director for Asia.

    Mr Chiu will be responsible for Hong Kong, Korea, Taiwan, China, the ASEAN countries and India.

 WHARF Cable Limited has appointed Jeremy Kidner as general manager, Kowloon District operations centre, and Patrick Wan as district sales manager, Kowloon district sales office.

  Mr Kidner joined Wharf Cable in 1993 as estate development manager and was responsible for estate access activity for Cable T.V. in the territory.

 THE International Herald Tribune has announced the appointment of Kelvin Monteiro as regional advertisement manager for the IHT based in Singapore.

  He will be responsible for advertising sales efforts in Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.
